A. Documentation and Samples Applying for Ex Certificate
1.Certificate of Qualification
The copy of business license (when the first applying for Ex certificate) firstly /a proxy/ a requisition.
2. Quality Guarantee
A quality guarantee shall be provided as required in the standard GB3836.1-2000. If the enterprise gets the ISO9000 certificate, the copy of ISO9000 certificate may be provided.
3. Technical Documents
Enterprise standards, drawings, operating manuals etc. should be provided. All the technical documents should be in duplicate.
a. Enterprise Standards/Technical Specifications
The enterprise standards/technical specifications shall be written as specified format. They shall contain explosive-proof information of the product. Such as Ex mark, environment conditions, the requirements of explosive-proof properties, the tests as to explosive-proof properties.
b. Product Drawings
If the Enterprise applies for Ex certificate for the electrical apparatus with type of intrinsic safety, the drawings of general arrangement, circuit principle, printed circuit board, nameplate, silk-screen, etc. should be provided. If non-intrinsic safety, the drawings provided should explain the explosive proof properties, including a general arrangement drawing and part drawings. If the general arrangement drawing can explain constructions clearly, a general arrangement drawing is enough.
c. Operating Manual
The operating manual should contain specifications, Ex mark, installation, and maintenance.
d. Others
For the product with encapsulated construction, the name, type, properties and process document of encapsulant should be given. For the product with the enclosure of plastic material, the name, type, and properties of plastic material should be given.
4. Sample
The sample submitted by the enterprise should conform to the drawings reviewed by PCEC. The quantity of the sample should satisfy the requirements. Special opener (when necessary) shall be submitted together. For the electrical apparatus with type of encapsulate, the encapsulated one and the ??-encapsulated one should be submitted respectively. The transparent part as inspection window should be submitted 5 species, at least 3 species. 8 transparent parts as lampshades of luminaries should be provided, at least 5. 3 to 5 species of rubber material blocks whose dimensions are 35×16×6 should be provided in the rubber-aging test. 2 pieces of plastic rectangular plates whose dimensions are 150mm×60mm should be provided in the insulation resistance test of parts of enclosures of plastic materials. The resistance is tested on the parts of enclosures if size permits.

B. Industrial test certificate for the new product.
The industrial test certificate is used for the product with the new explosive proof construction. The valid time is two years. The documentation applying for the industrial test certificate is the same as clause A.

C. When the Ex certificate will expire, the requisition of exchanging the certification should be offered to PCEC in 3 months before the date of expire. The requisition should point out the "name", "type", "Ex mark", "No. of the Ex certificate" of the product and the explain of changing if there any. And the expired Ex certificate, the documentation examined and the new sample should also be offered to PCEC.

D. Safety Certificate of Intrinsic Safety Explosive Proof System
1. Besides the documentation as clause A and B, the enterprise needs to provide a requisition for intrinsic safety explosive proof system.
2. The copy of Ex certificate of the related product should be provided. The enterprise should answer for the truth of the certificate and the property of the product.

E. Installation and Use Safety Certificate for Explosive proof Electrical Apparatus/System
When the enterprise will install and use the electrical apparatus/system, PCEC may evaluate the explosive proof safety use certificate (if complying with the explosive proof requirements).

F. Entrustment Test/ Arbitral Test
The entrusted party shall appoint to the test items and standards. Besides providing the sample and the documentation as clause A. After the test, PCEC will issue the test report.

G. Apply for Ex Certificate for the foreign enterprise when the foreign enterprise want to apply for the Ex certificate, the foreign enterprise can directly apply for the Ex certificate or entrust the exclusive in China to apply for the Ex Certificate. Besides a requisition and a proxy. The applicant should provide the documentation as the clause A, B, C, D, E.

H． Guide for applying for ATEX certification
1. Only apply for ATEX “EC-Type-Examination” certificate
At present, the applicant shall apply this through PCEC and a notified ATEX certification body. The applicant shall prepare document, drawings and files as required. All documentation shall be in both Chinese and English. See Application Steps for details.
2. Apply for ATEX certification
After application of “EC-Type-Examination” certificate, an additional application of “Quality Notification” is required. This can be achieved through PCEC and a notified ATEX certification body. The applicant shall prepare document, drawings and files as required. All documentation shall be in both Chinese and English. See Application Steps for details.
Ⅰ．Guide for applying for IECEx certification
After filling the application form as required, prepare relevant document as required. a) List of all products applied for certification including type, specification and Ex mark etc.; b) documentation about explosion-proof design of the product (including details about difference among products of all types within one application unit); c) Design drawings relevant with explosion-proof type (eg. for “d” products, it shall include general arrangement and all structure drawings of parts relevant with explosion-proof; for “i” products, it shall include general arrangement, diagram of circuit arrangement, diagram of circuit principles, diagram of encapsulation structure, diagram of terminals arrangement and components list etc.); d) Instructions for product installation, use and maintenance; (All the above documentation shall be in both Chinese and English.) e) Document required for quality assurance capability of the manufacturer.
